"I'm a Nuke"

Ron just finished another round of Chemo yesterday. Last night he was so hot I thought he was running a fever. He was complaining he was cold but his skin was hot to the touch. You could just feel the heat pouring out of him. I took his temp. It was normal. "I'm a nuke," he said to me. No need for the electric blanket. I could just cuddle next to him and stay plenty warm.
The other side effects Ron has are neuropathy (which is chronic but flares up), headache and occasional random pain, a runny nose- especially when he eats, a dry cough and chemo brain. The other night we went to dinner with friends and he had word-finding issues.
On the upside, Ron is getting some exercise with short daily walks. He has cut back on some of his volunteer work but still maintains the website for our church. We have a vacation planned in January. So, his quality of life is pretty good!
Next week we go back to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for his 2 month check with the Colon Cancer specialist. Since the latest scan results were so good, I think he'll want Ron to stay the course.
As for me, well, I am doing okay emotionally but not physically. I have been fighting a bad upper respiratory infection and subsequent asthma flare-up for over 6 weeks now. It has caused me to miss some work but mostly I have pushed through it. We have a daughter living at home and she is very helpful with cooking, cleaning, and driving her dad to appointments. I am hoping to get well so I can fully enjoy the holiday season.

Sounds like Ron overall is doing fairly well. I think of you guys often. I have taken a break from reading blogs and blogging, but plan to be back as a regular reader very soon. Have a very Merry Christmas! May God Bless your entire family.

Cancer is such a rough ride. I am glad to hear you have your daughter around to help out, what a special girl she must be!

Praying for clean scans and for you to feel better soon.

Blessings,
